There’s a wide variety of diseases to look out for, like dollar spot, brown patch, or rust, but by the time you notice the signs, the turf damage will already have been done. By identifying and inspecting for disease and fungi as soon as anything suspicious pops up, we can treat and stop the spread of the disease from affecting anymore patches of turf.

Be sure to closely inspect your grass, bushes, trees, ornamentals, and other plants for disease or fungi. The common signs include lesions in the leaves or grass blades, discoloration, patches of dead turf, or the presence of mold or mushrooms. Note the affected plants and where the disease is taking place, as you’ll use this information to focus your treatment.

Use a fungicide like Patch Pro as a treatment to stop the growth of lawn diseases and fungi. When applied properly, a fungicide will attack the fungus head on, leaving the plant alone.

Depending on the disease you’re treating for, you’ll use between 0.5 to 4 ounces of Patch Pro per 1,000 square feet. For most general prevention treatments, we recommend using 1 ounce of Patch Pro per 1,000 square feet.

With a pump sprayer, fill the tank halfway with water, and add the proper amount of Patch Pro. Close the sprayer, and agitate the solution to ensure an even distribution. Open the sprayer again and fill it with water, then seal the sprayer and shake once more to keep the product dispersed.

Evenly broadcast the entire solution across your treatment area. Be sure to spray to the point of wet and not runoff. Allow the product to dry completely before watering or mowing the lawn, but if you know the disease is soil-borne, you may water-in the product.

As an alternative product, you can use Systemic Fungicide RTS. This product is simple to use, and contains the same active ingredient as Patch Pro, so it can be used for similar applications. Be aware that Systemic Fungicide RTS comes premixed in a lower concentration. This will restrict your ability to have varying concentrations to treat and prevent more diseases on more varying plant types.
