This was part of Mariko's 2010 Bachelor 2 submission for composition at the Australian Institute of Music.

Samples were provided by AIM for this module. Digital equivalents of tape composition had to be used to create one static texture and one looped texture, which then had to be combined. Mariko knew what their intentions were, but subverted them on purpose because it was bloody boring to follow their rules, and she was able to pursuade her teacher (and marker) that this was right.

The static texture was made out of a camera click sound by zooming right in and copying a fragment of waveform until it created a nice buzz. The overlapping buzz sounds weirdly alter the pitch.

The looped texture was created by beat slicing the samples and rearranging them into patterns.

Transition between them was almost impossible. Massive reverb to the rescue.

Music was composed and produced using a combination of Audacity, and Logic Pro 9.
