Today, Utah HB 390 — the Veterans PTSD Clinical Research Amendments — passed the Utah House of Representatives with a decisive 67–2 vote.

This is a major milestone!

HB 390 establishes a state-supported, federally compliant clinical research pathway to study psychedelic-assisted therapy for veterans suffering from treatment-resistant PTSD. This bill does not legalize psychedelics. It creates a rigorous, FDA-aligned research framework to explore whether these therapies can be studied safely, responsibly, and ethically within Utah’s medical and academic institutions.

The strong bipartisan vote reflects something important:
Utah recognizes the urgency of the veteran mental health crisis.
Utah values scientific rigor.
