00:00 - 01:20 Importance of the topic wrt JEE Main (Specific): Colour coding is important for JEE Mains & Board. In the last few years, the question for this topic has been asked many times in JEE Mains Question paper. This topic is relatively easy and scoring, so ABJ sir is taking a 15 min lecture on this topic.
01:20 - 02:14 Carbon Resistors: Carbon resistors are one of the most common types of electronics used. They are made from a solid cylindrical resistor element with embedded wire leads or metal end caps. Carbon resistors come in different physical sizes with power dissipation limits, commonly from 1 watt down to 1/8 watt.
02:14 - 02:42 Reason for color coding on Carbon resistor: Carbon resistors are commercially used passive devices because they offer very high resistance and compact size. The colors are used to code carbon resistors mainly because it is tough in the small electronic circuit to calibrate the resistance of the tiny bunch of carbon resistors. For simplicity's sake, we are using colors for the coding purpose.

To read them, hold the resistor such that the tolerance band is on your right. The tolerance band is usually gold or silver in color and is placed a little further away from the other bands.
Starting from your left, note down all the colors of the bands and write them down in sequence. Next, could you use the table below to see which digits they represent? The band just next to the tolerance band is the multiplier band.

In this trick only capital letters shows required colors. B - Black , B - Brown , R - Red , O - Orange , Y - Yellow , G - Green , B - Blue , V - Violet , G - Grey , and W - White.
