Roland resides in Harold Bay, a village on the rugged island of Futuna, south of Vanuatu archipelago, where life has adapted to its challenging terrain. Perched atop steep cliffs and surrounded by sharp drops, the islanders have ingeniously crafted wooden ladders and vines to navigate between villages and access otherwise inaccessible areas. Constantly battling nature's elements like rock slides and storms, maintaining these pathways is an ongoing challenge.

As Roland passes down the traditions of survival to his son Renaldo, they delve into the island's heritage. From fishing techniques honed over generations to agricultural practices and the art of constructing resilient homes, these traditions are crucial for enduring life on Futuna.
