Mayones Duvell Elite precision fret levelling

Описание к видео Mayones Duvell Elite precision fret levelling

This was a subtle challenge: Dan's Mayones superstrat. First and foremost: this guitar is absolutely superb quality. It has a neck / fingerboard that I would say is 98% perfect. Let's be realistic for a moment - it's rare to get guitars that are near-perfect even at premium prices (most, if I'm honest have frets that are about as level as a £250 Chinese budget guitar) but this is definitely one of those exceptions.
Some people might say "If you've paid £2k for a guitar and it's not 100% then send it back..." Dan absolutely could do this and no doubt Mayones would send him another equally good guitar. But he and I both know that it would almost certainly be exactly the same - another superb 98% perfect guitar.
The point here is that he's hoping for that last couple of percent and asked me to try to achieve it for him using my methods.
So it's both unusual (the only other guitar I've seen with a neck and fingerboard as good as this was the carbon-fiber Emerald) and it's challenging because so little (relatively-speaking) has to be done for this improvement - if I can make it.
The video is a partial set up; I did a lot of measuring and assessing priot to turning on the camera and the whole fret sand and polish, new strings stretch out and intonate after switching the camera off. I mainly recorded it to capture the thinking and fret levelling processes.
I lowered the action and did my absolute best to clear up the very small amount of 'fret slap'. If this adds that final 2% for Dan then we'll both be happy. If it doesn't, then we tried - and he's got a lower action and a near-perfect guitar for the smallest amount of fret metal loss.
