How I Deal With Fear in Climbing | Trad Climbing At Mount Arapiles

Описание к видео How I Deal With Fear in Climbing | Trad Climbing At Mount Arapiles

I spent a week learning to lead trad climbing at Mount Arapiles and the fear in climbing was a common theme throughout my stay 🥲 While it was uncomfortable and emotional, I found that fear in climbing has taught me how to identify what types of climbs trigger it (i.e. exposure and step across movements), discover what my limitations of fear are, and ways to manage and overcome it when it shows up halfway through a climb. In this video, I'll show & tell a few scary climbing moments and walk you through on how I resolved or found other ways to deal with it.

Originally I thought I was the only one who was freaking out on a climb but gradually as I spoke to other climbers, I realised I wasn't the only one. Fear is alive in climbers of all strengths, stages and backgrounds and I hope this video can help relate to other climbers out there who have been in a similar situation. Aside from the scary moments, I had a BLAST at Mount Arapiles and there were so many other trad climbs that I thoroughly enjoyed and climbed during the week. It is such an incredible place to climb in Australia and I can't rave enough about how beautiful the rock, location and people are. Super keen to return soon ☺️
