U.S.-based Web3 leader ConsenSys recently announced that U.S. Users of MetaMask will be able to utilize PayPal to buy cryptocurrency Etherium inside the program. The first Web3 wallet to use PayPal to increase the success of on-ramp transactions is MetaMask.

The service will initially only be available to a limited number of American PayPal users, given the US is one of MetaMask's main user markets, according to the announcement made on December 14.

By just entering into their mobile MetaMask app, customers will be able to buy and transfer ETH from PayPal to MetaMask without any issues. They will then be redirected to their PayPal account to finish their transactions.

"This integration with PayPal will allow our U.S. consumers to not only buy cryptocurrency securely through MetaMask, but to easily explore the Web3 ecosystem," said Lorenzo Santos, product manager for MetaMask.

PayPal is one of a growing number of traditional payment providers incorporating cryptocurrency into their offerings and aiming to make it simple for customers to engage with the crypto ecosystem.

The combination of MetaMask and PayPal is the most recent of several announcements that aim to enhance and broaden the payment alternatives available to users within the MetaMask mobile app.
