LOCATION: 7th & A Streets, National City

Information on the start of this incident is not available because National City's police radios are encrypted. We were able to obtain audio after the incident was in progress because they moved to a non-encrypted channel to more easily communicate with Chula Vista Police and their drone pilots.

We were told by a neighbor that police were called to this
location over a domestic violence issue, and that someone
had been transported to the hospital before we arrived. We were also told that the wanted person has prior warrants,
and that there were several people inside of the home.

Police surrounded the home and lit it up with strong lights. The ASTREA Sheriff helicopter checked the property for heat sources to verify that no one was hiding in the yard. Callouts were made in English and Spanish telling all occupants to exit the house with their hands up.

A tactical truck was brought in, and and a team of officers broke one of the windows. About a dozen pepperballs were shot through the broken window.


Minutes after the pepper balls were deployed, the door opened
and the suspect stepped out and surrendered, followed by 3 others who were in the house.

The suspect was taken to jail for booking.
The others in the house were released at the scene.
