Following a couple of two-hour replays on 9Go based on the SpeedSeries opening weekend from Symmons Plains Raceway in Tasmania a few days ago, I was fortunate to bring in one of the current full-time drivers over in the TCR Australia competition named Tom Oliphant for a 9-10 minute chat. He is originally from Cheshire in the United Kingdom who has been racing lots of race cars over the years across his home country and abroad including the British Touring Car Championship. Now a resident of Wollongong here in New South Wales, Tom continues his racing career down under where he will contest the whole eight-race TCR Australia season throughout 2023, replacing Michael Caruso in the No.115 Alfa Romeo Guilietta machinery for Ashley Seward Motorsport. I caught up with Tom on how he’s progressing right now following his first race in Australia, as well as the comparison between the Australian & British race tracks and his career goals as the season goes on.
