I was walking the historically preserved city of of Oaxaca, looking for food. On the sidewalk, about to go up to my favorite tamale street food seller, Maximo Alberto came up to me holding his shoe shine kit. He offered his shoe shine service on the street.

I was wearing my black loafers and immediately agreed. He said he had been working 15 years doing shoe shines. He was absolutely fantastic at his job.

He made my black shoes shiney and brand new again!

The exact price asked for this shoe shine is 25 Mexican Pesos ($1.24 USD). I gave that and a tip.

After the shoe shine, I stuffed myself with hot tamales. The flavors were mole chicken and a
chipilín.
