More than 200 people were killed on March 11th, 2004 in terrorist attacks in Madrid. This documentary looks at how the terrorist network functioned. It describes the challenge to western societies when facing an organization that makes everyone vulnerable and which has left in its wake death and destruction around the world. The report follows the movements of radical Islamic terrorists in Spain where a large number of arrests were made prior to the attacks. In July of 2001, two months before 9/11, the perpetrators of the attacks in the United States met in Spain. At that meeting, they set the date for the attacks and ironed out the final details for the operation which involved the leader of the suicide commando, Mohammed Atta, and al-Qaeda’s number three man, Ramzi Binalshib. Did these arrests make a difference? Some sources believe that the arrests made it impossible to continue tracking the movements of the terrorist organization, leaving security forces at a dead end, and, as a result, making society more vulnerable to attack.
