We get a glimpse into how young people are getting hands-on and making a real impact at Acres and Acres. Hannah and Yelena, part of the youth team, have totally stepped up—learning new skills on the fly using things like ChatGPT and YouTube. They're quick to pick things up and are now running parts of the garden and shop like pros.

Yelena, for example, has only been around for about four weeks but already has the know-how to set up her own little garden. She’s one of more than 20 young people who’ve gone from having almost no experience to understanding how to grow food from start to finish—seedlings, composting, worm farming, the whole deal.

But it’s not just about growing food—it’s about connection. Everyone’s learning from each other, getting their hands dirty, and building real community ties. The project even started drawing in more long-time locals, which shows it’s becoming a real part of the town’s fabric.

In the end, it’s a story about young people learning, sharing, and growing—both food and community.
