This old mill in Switzerland was first mentioned in a document in 1305. It was one of the oldest mills in the canton of Zurich. In 1953/54, the mill was completely refurbished and automated at the same time. The plant was able to process 15 tonnes of wheat into flour within 24 hours. A few years later, the figure was 30 to 35 tonnes. In what was then the most modern mill in Switzerland, the plant was monitored by a single supervisor. The mill was finally shut down in 1985 for economic reasons. Since then, there has been a dispute between the owners and the authorities as to whether the mill is worth protecting or not. As a result, the building has now been empty for 40 years and is slowly but surely falling into disrepair.
