The Geologic Oddity in Hawaii; Kazumura Cave, The World's Longest Lava Tube

Описание к видео The Geologic Oddity in Hawaii; Kazumura Cave, The World's Longest Lava Tube

Hidden right below the surface in Hawaii is the world's longest lava tube. This cave complex is known as the Kazumura Cave, and measures a whopping 40.7 miles or 65.5 kilometers in length. It can be found east northeast of the Kilauea Iki Crater, having formed during a voluminous eruption approximately 580 years ago.

Note: Kazumura Cave is not lit by artificial lighting, like this video's thumbnail image might incorrectly imply. This image does not display the Kazumura Cave, but rather the Thurston Lava Tube which also formed during the 15th century ʻAilāʻau eruption.
