Alec Baldwin has arrived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for his involuntary manslaughter trial.

The actor is being charged over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of film Rust.

Hutchins died after a gun held by Baldwin went off during filming.

Erlinda Ocampo Johnson, prosecuting, said Baldwin "played make-believe with a real gun" and “violated the cardinal rules of firearm safety”.

But Alex Spiro, Baldwin’s defence lawyer, said the 66-year-old was “an actor, acting” when Hutchins was killed.

He added that the death of Hutchins, a cinematographer, was an “unspeakable tragedy” but that “ Alec Baldwin “committed no crime.”

The trial continues.
