Brew Your Own Easy IPA at Home Using a Woolworths Lager Kit!

In this homebrewing tutorial, I’ll show you how to transform a basic Woolworths Lager Tin into a hoppy, citrus-packed IPA using just a few extra ingredients — including two legendary Aussie hops: Galaxy and Eclipse.

Perfect for beginners and budget brewers, this recipe delivers big craft beer flavour without expensive gear or fancy ingredients. You’ll get a fresh, tropical IPA for under $27 AUD, and 23L of beer!

Woolworths IPA Recipe:
1 tin Woolworths Lager
1kg Light Dried Malt Extract
250g Maltodextrin
300g Dextrose
70g Eclipse hops
70g Galaxy hops

10g Eclipse - hop stand 20min @ 80 degrees
10g Galaxy - hop stand 20min @ 80 degrees
40g Galaxy - dry hop day 2
40g Eclipse - dry hop day 2
20g Galaxy - dry hop day 5
20g Galaxy - dry hop day 5

Ferment at 20 degrees for 4 days, increase to 22 for 2 days and then 24 degrees for remainder of fermentation.
Cold crash at 2 degrees for a week to allow the beer to clear. All hop matter and yeast will fall to the bottom of the fermenter. Then keg or bottle, and enjoy!
