"Tenebris Monasterium" is based on the image of a dark and mysterious monastery during the Middle Ages, represented by a melody in the style of a Gregorian chant with more dissonant and contemporary musical elements, but at the same time interspersed with other musical styles than the inhabitants who lived around the monastery could hear during this period of time like medieval dances and sephardic songs.

This piece is the first movement from a larger piece for clarinet and tape called “Aphocryphos” which in Latin means tenebre, dark, mysterious, occult. Being the result of a collaboration and experimentation of around a year between composer Saül Gomez, clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester and music producer Raul Nacher. In order to achieve a unique piece in this genre, based on sound libraries used in the world of cinema and collaborations with more than fourteen musicians whose performances can be heard in the recorded part "tape", being one of the purposes of this work that is able to stimulate the imagination of the listeners through a palette of sounds full of colors, texture and fantasy.
