The classic mix of rum and cola is as much a part of Trinbago culture as roti, Carnival, calypso, and steelpan. Its enduring popularity has inspired calypso and soca songs dating back to 1943, making it a true cultural icon. Now, the House of Angostura is bringing this beloved drink into the modern era.

The company has transformed its signature mix of spiced dark rum, Tamboo, and cola into a ready-to-drink version called Angostura Cubata, which will soon be available on shelves nationwide.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of Angostura Holdings Limited Ian Forbes says Angostura Cubata is more than a drink: it's about reclaiming a part of our culture and history while celebrating all things that make T&T quintessentially unique.

"The ready-to-drink alcohol category continues to experience accelerated growth driven by convenience, experimentation and lifestyle-driven consumption. Within what we consider to be an expanding space in the drinks industry, rum-based RTDs, or ready-to-drink, are emerging as a high-potential segment bridging traditional spirits craftsmanship with casual on-the-go consumption habits of younger consumers."

Chairman of Angostura Holdings Limited Gary Hunt said that, with the recent remake of Lord Invader's 1943 global sensation Rum and Coca Cola by Kes the Band for Carnival 2026, this was the perfect time to launch this innovative product.

"We, ladies and gentlemen, created Angostura Cubata because the way people enjoy their drinks has evolved. Today's consumers want great taste. They want convenience and a brand that reflects who they are. The ready-to-drink category is growing rapidly, with rum-based RTDs emerging as a very clear favourite. The Chairman noted that Angostura Cubata will be available at all retailers and is expected to join its other ready-to-drink products on shelves throughout the Caribbean and further afield.
