1993 Acura Legend 3.2L Intake Manifold Tip/ Head Gasket Repair Not impossible.

Starting head gasket leaks can be tested and located by placing a mirror over each open spark plug hole while the engine is still warm. Steam from water in the combustion chamber will fog the mirror. This car is a challenging job. Small hands for tight spaces and a lot of tools are necessary, as several of the bolts need very strong 6 point sockets and extra leverage as the torque is crazy on many of them. Cheap tools will break along with your sunny disposition. A couple of the 12mm exhaust manifold bolts need medium length sockets, as the studs are long. The heads are aligned with 2 guide sleeves each, so rock them up off the block carefully. The exhaust flanges, air pump and alternator brackets, rear EGR items, etc. are really torqued on. The assembly procedure will require marking hose numbers and a good memory. IMHO this engine suffers from a less than ideal cooling system, so I blow the sediments out of key areas with some reverse air pressure from a compressor with the radiator full, only the top hose off, blowing 50 PSI back through it, always refill opening the air bleeder screw at the upper hose outlet. A 1.5 inch curved baffle riveted to the passengers side of the thermostat will help your water flow through the radiator - reduce foaming and limitng coolant bypass. Use a cup of denatured alcohol to help clean and thin your coolant for chronic cooling problems that absolutely nothing else cures. It's too much for the pump to get the coolant through those skinny little ribs, the easy route is those big bypass ports, reheating hot water. I even bend the pump blades to fit better. Hopefully this quickie video will give you an idea of what you are in for.
