Sometimes I feel like debt just sneaks up on us when we aren’t paying attention. For us it was because it was too easy to swipe the card and we weren’t paying attention to what we we were spending. We have also had times since Covid where at least one of us has been unemployed or underemployed. My hubby was also a student during this time and wasn’t making as much money.

Regardless of how we acquired this debt, we had to make a change. Now we both are employed with the option to get overtime pay if we want it (a little for me, and a lot for hubby). When I went back to work at the end of August, I knew that we could not continue down the same path that we were on.

While digital envelopes work well for me to manage our bills and sinking funds in the bank, they were not good for us to each manager our personal spending. We decided to try cash envelope stuffing for our personal spending, and so far it has been going great.

This is our debt story and our recovery plan. I know that there are others who are in a similar situation so I wanted to share our story. I’m hoping that this may inspire others just as I have been inspired by everyone else I have seen on YouTube.

I’m not a financial planner, but I am sharing our journey to become debt-free, and hopefully this helps someone else along the way.
