The Church Where QUEENS Are BURIED Under Your Feet

The Tower of London is known today as a brutal site of imprisonment, torture and execution. But inside of the infamous fortress is the Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula, next to Tower Green where the execution scaffold was found. This is a beautiful church, but under the floor today are buried 3 of England's Queens. Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard the two wives of Henry VIII who were executed at the Tower are buried today below the altar. Also nearby buried is Lady Jane Grey, the 9 Day Queen who was executed inside of the Tower by Bloody Mary I.

Many other people are buried inside the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula, including Thomas Cromwell, Sir Thomas More, Bishop John Fisher, Jane Boleyn, Robert Devereux and many more influential Tudor and post Tudor people. When the church was renovated, over 1000 peoples remains were discovered and were then reburied. But if you visit the chapel today, you are walking above the remains of some of the most powerful people in the Tudor period.
