Описание к видео Marlon Riggs' Legacy and this Political Moment - LIVE Edition

On February 3rd 2015, the birthday of esteemed black gay filmmaker Marlon Riggs, the first Google Hangout in the series will bring together Kenyon Farrow, Charles Stephens, Aquarius Gilmer and Yolo Akili to discuss:
·        the devaluation of black male life (made relevant through Ferguson protests) to efforts to end HIV/AIDs in the black gay and bisexual men;
·        The legacy of Marlon Riggs; and
·        Leadership and power in AIDS Service Organizations.

About the Series:
Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men represent 2% of the United States population yet accounted for 63% of new HIV infections in 2010. Among this group, gay and bisexual men of color are even more disproportionately impacted. Young gay and bisexual men of color accounted for twice as many new HIV infections as either white or young Hispanic/Latino gay and bisexual men.

We Shall Not Be Removed: The State of Black Gay and Bisexual Men and HIV/AIDS,  a 4-part Google Hangout series hosted by AIDS United, brings together experts, visionaries and thought leaders from across our LGBT and HIV communities to discuss:
·        the impact of HIV on gay and bisexual men of color;
·        how this issue relates to and stems from parallel social justice movements; and
·        innovative strategies that could help alleviate the epidemic.
The time is now: Communities across the country are mobilizing in solidarity for social justice, racial equality, and a more just and equal society. HIV is no exception. The impact of HIV on black gay and bisexual men cannot be ignored.
