RTV Silicone In Your GR86 or BRZ Oil Pickup? Here's How To Clean It

In the big picture, hopefully this is a non-issue and I would assume the large majority of drivers will never have to worry about this. It is still uncertain if the RTV on the pan is actually what is getting into the oil pickup, it could be coming from other places. Contact your dealer if you are concerned! Never DIY something like this on a new car unless you are aware of the risks.

The 2022 Toyota GR86 has had numerous recent reports of RTV Silicone being stuck in the engine oil pickup. Too much silicone clogging the oil pickup can lead to potential engine issues, including failure. This video will go over how to remove the oil pan, clean the mating surfaces, remove any silicone from the oil pickup, and re-install and reseal the oil pan per the service manual. This process should significantly reduce the potential issues with lack of engine oiling, due to a clogged oil pickup.
