DDS Breakout Session: Bolstering Democracy at Home and Abroad

Описание к видео DDS Breakout Session: Bolstering Democracy at Home and Abroad

Has democratic erosion in the United States hindered the country’s ability to promote democracy abroad? Have U.S. efforts abroad affected processes at home? The democratic sheen of the United States has been visibly tarnished at the same time that the U.S. has ceded leadership on this issue globally. This session addresses the potential linkages between these two trends in ways that might inform strategies to reverse them together. This session includes commentary by Daniel Baer, Senior Fellow, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Tamara Cofman Wittes, Senior Fellow, Center for Middle East Policy, Brookings Institution William J. Dobson, Co-Editor, Journal of Democracy. The session is moderated by Professors Deborah Avant and Naazneen Barma, Josef Korbel School of International Studies.
