Acacia Tree in African Savanna

Africa has many different terrains, but one of my favourites is Savanna. The flat grass plains with occasional Acacia trees is the typical African scene. The wide expanse of land under the deep blue African skies with white clouds makes a memorable impression.

Acacias can grow as trees and shrubs, but the most classic acacia trees seen on safari include the umbrella tree, whistling thorn, wait-a-bit acacia and the yellow fever tree. The umbrella tree has become almost a symbol of the African bush. It is always photographed as the most typical tree in African bush.

The African savanna ecosystem is a tropical grassland with warm temperatures year-round and with its highest seasonal rainfall in the summer. The savanna is characterized by grasses and small or dispersed trees that do not form a closed canopy, allowing sunlight to reach the ground.
