Does Allah love me?
This question often circled in my mind. One day, a thought came to me:
Allah has revealed verses about the people He loves. So I opened the Qur’an and began searching.

The first verse I found said that Allah loves the pious. My heart sank — I felt I had no trace of piety within me.

Then I read that He loves the patient. I felt deep regret over my own impatience. As I read further, I learned that Allah loves the strivers in His cause.
I realized that I had not attained that honor either. Then I read that He loves those who do good with excellence — and I knew I was far from that as well.

I decided to stop searching, afraid that perhaps there was nothing left in me that could make Allah love me.
I looked into my deeds — they were stained with sins and shortcomings.

I was about to close the Qur’an when suddenly my eyes fell upon this verse:

“Indeed, Allah loves those who repent.” And in that moment…I found my place.
