House of the Dragon Death*SPOILER*

Rip for the king Meleys and Rhaenys

This is a spoiler for the death of meleys and rhaenys in house of the dragon episode 4

The Battle at Rook’s Rest just ended, the Dance of the Dragons just happened, and Aemond tried to kill Aegon twice. First, by deliberately letting Aegon fly his dragon Sunfyre alone against Rhaenys Targaryen and her dragon Meleys without rushing to the air to help him, even though he knew Meleys was much stronger than Sunfyre.

Second, Aemond tried to kill Aegon by blasting dragonfire when the dragons were entangled, fully aware that even if he hits Rhaenys and Meleys, he's going to burn Aegon as well, and he does.

Finally, Aemond flies back with Vhagar to where Aegon and Sunfyre fell and lands. Aemond climbs down and walks upon the crash site where Aegon and Sunfyre are lying, both badly hurt. Aemond approaches, draws his sword, and stares at Aegon, then decides to sheath his sword as Criston Cole approaches.

Aemond gets what he wanted; Aemond becomes King while Aegon is recovering from his wounds. Aemond will be King until the end of season 2.

One thing we know for sure is that from House of the Dragon season 2, episode 5 onwards, Aemond will wield Aegon’s sword and dagger, and he will rule in his stead. Aemond will be the new Protector of the Realm.
