Metropolis (1927) - Fritz Lang - Thea von Harbou - Silent With English Subtitles

Описание к видео Metropolis (1927) - Fritz Lang - Thea von Harbou - Silent With English Subtitles

The greatest silent movie ever made, and probably the greatest movie ever made. Before I seen "Metropolis" I would have said Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" was the greatest silent movie ever made. I seen "Metropolis" for the first time about 12 years ago (I know, I'm slow to catch on), and was, and still am in awe of it. I see now where Chaplin got his inspiration for "Modern Times", WOW!

The movie has been restored as best it can, with some scenes still missing, and some in very rough shape, but even then, it's still the greatest. The work that had to be done to make this movie must have been monumental, almost like building the pyramids.

Thea von Harbou, the woman that wrote the book "Metropolis" and the screenplay along with Fritz Lang, was married to Fritz Lang. I've never read the book, but I will.

Here's a little trivia I got from imdb.com about Thea von Harbou:

"Thea von Harbou was married to the famous director Fritz Lang. He brought many of her scripts to the screen. In 1932, von Harbou joined the NSDAP, or Nazi Party. Lang, who was opposed to the Nazis, left her and emigrated to America. They divorced in 1933."
