Wanamaker Organ Keith Chapman Thanksgiving Arrangement of We Gather Together

Описание к видео Wanamaker Organ Keith Chapman Thanksgiving Arrangement of We Gather Together

Keith Chapman performs a somewhat extemporaneous Thanksgiving arrangement of the hymn We Gather Together on the Wanamaker Organ, date unknown. A middle section includes a quotation of All Creatures of Our God and King. The arrangement is typical Chapman with wonderful harmonic treatment and rewards careful listening despite the primitive recording methods used to capture 28,000 pipes. A counterpoint solo is heard on Chapman's beloved Post Horn stop in the Ethereal Division when it was still on its original pressure, and the Major Chimes punctuate the Pedal at the finale. Dr. Chapman studied with organist Richard Purvis at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and Dr. Alexander McCurdy at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Various photos of Dr. Chapman are included, among them shots by Jack Jones of RBY productions, Richard Young, and Shorty Yeaworth, taken from the Keith Chapman Wanamaker Organ Diamond DVD video production. Typical department-store noises are heard in the background. Dr. Chapman and his wife Sally died in June 1989 in a private-plane accident in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Colorado.
