While whirlwinds are incredibly powerful due to their long range and ability to spread disorder amongst the enemy with their bombardments, they are far from precise weapons. Quite often their payload will miss altogether or worse, hit your own troops when they are making their attack. We therefore cannot rely on them during protracted engagements and without predator tank variants or the land raider, there's only one thing we can build: dreadnoughts.

Equipping them with an assault cannon gives them great range and helps them whittle down lightly armoured foes, but there are merits to keeping them with dual dreadnought close combat weapons that I didn't consider at this point. There will be times when they're forced to engage with large swarms of infantry or huge melee foes with masses of health, both of which would shrug off the assault cannon fire with ease. Dual close combat weapons, however, would help turn the tide in our favour.

Next video I will see the potential folly in always thinking that switching weapons is an upgrade, but for now it's serving our purposes well enough.
