Last weekend I made my way out to the Oregon coast and filmed some trains while I was there, we chase the Spring Splendor on the old SP line which used to connect Portland to the Oregon Coast. We chase a certain section of the line which runs between the small town of Wheeler, Oregon to Batterson, Oregon, a very small town consisting of under 75 residents. At Batterson the single track turns into a siding for a little over a mile. The power will run around the train, switch the leader to be the unit that was trailing before and continue west back to Wheeler where they will once again run around their train (on a very short siding) and repeat the cycle. In this video we will stop by a couple of small towns in between Wheeler and Batterson that include Mohler and Foss.

Today the Train consists of two units and five cars. As we chase it east, the first unit is GN 274, a F7A original built for the GN and still bares its GN paint scheme. The second unit is Port of Tillamook Bay 101 (POTB), a GP9 "highhood" Originally built as Chesapeake and Ohio 6066, then sold to Huron and Eastern numbered 101 and eventually to the Port of Tillamook Bay, this unit wears a "cow" scheme and is one of few if not the only active POTB survivor after the railroad shutdown. Along with the power, the consist also consists of two open air coaches, OCSR 100 and OCSR 200, a POTB Budd RDC1 car POTB 553 (Ex CNJ), a Coach, and a OCSR caboose (Ex UP nee Rock Is), As we chase it west, car consists is in reverse order and the 101 leads 274 and the rest of the consist.
