Vocal Coach Reaction To Mötley Crüe - Kickstart My Heart - Ken Tamplin

Mötley Crüe was one of a number of heavy metal bands to come out of the LA music scene that I crossed paths with.

Founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead singer Vince Neil and lead guitarist Mick Mars, the band has sold 100 million albums worldwide, making them one of the BEST-SELLING bands of all time!

Their first official gig together was at the Troubadour in LA where they set a record for attendance.

All four original members have lasted from start to finish with the exception of one album.

When Mötley Crüe started performing, the lineup consisted of singer Vince Neil, guitarist Mick Mars, bassist Nikki Sixx, and drummer Tommy Lee which were the same four members on their retirement tour.

That makes almost 34 years that the band had a consistent lineup. There was one point where that lineup was splintered when the band fired Vince Neil and replaced him with John Corabi for one album. However, Neil returned and has been with them ever since.

The song for today’s reaction is “Kickstart My Heart”. The song refers to a heroin overdose Nikki Sixx suffered where he was declared dead from an overdose. However, paramedics continued working on him and gave him adrenaline, bringing him back to life. Sixx claims he had an out of body experience at the time.

Following the experience, Mötley Crüe released the biggest album of their career, Dr. Feelgood, featuring this song.
