Waterproofing a Wooden Vase

Описание к видео Waterproofing a Wooden Vase

This is the best woodgrain I have ever seen. Today I woodturned a beautiful, three piece hollow form vase without using any glue on it. This piece is held together by carefully placed wooden pins which are painted dark red. Also, there is a test tube placed inside the piece that allows the vase to hold water securely.

I special designed this piece to complement the beautiful woodgrain, even though the originally I planned something else for this video. After started to work on the wood I knew I need to change my plans and came up with something special.

The main body of the piece was turned using spalted beech, the base is made of oak and the cap, well I have no idea. The base and the cap is painted black. As always I used my Axminster AC355WL woodturing lathe and traditional and carbide woodturning chisels to complete this work.
