“Wouldn’t anyone worry about that?” That is what I hear from parents about some OCD themes and compulsions.

Sometimes the parent has OCD, so they align with their child’s OCD compulsions and fears. I’m not only talking about their child’s OCD, but I’m talking to their OCD as well.

Sometimes there is an objective concern, like an allergy or a fear of germs, but the acuity of the safety behavior is way beyond typical and has swerved into OCD territory.

Just because a fear or discomfort makes sense, doesn’t mean the level of precautions do.
