Andrew Watt: Producer on the Rise | Broken Record (Hosted by Rick Rubin)

Описание к видео Andrew Watt: Producer on the Rise | Broken Record (Hosted by Rick Rubin)

It’s hard to believe Andrew Watt is only 30. Just consider the artists he’s worked with over the last five years: Ozzy Osbourne, Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, and Justin Bieber.

He’s quietly become one of the biggest producers in the industry — a fact which is reflected in his nomination at the upcoming Grammys for Producer of the Year.

But before Watt started his production journey five years ago, he was a songwriter and guitar player. Songs like “Ghost In My Head” from a 2015 EP he released perfectly capture why he’s been able to straddle the usually firm line between hard rock and pop music. It’s something he’s helped Post Malone do the last few years and also Miley Cyrus on her new album “Plastic Hearts.”

In this episode, Andrew Watt talks to Rick Rubin about getting his start in music interning with the Roots, his journey to becoming a music producer, and about a frightening experience with COVID in the early days of the pandemic.
