Painting Napoleonic Austrian Infantry in (Mostly) Contrast! [How I Paint Things]

Painting white uniforms has a reputation as being difficult. Not at all! In fact, knocking out large numbers of infantry in white is as simple as using a quick drybrush as your guide, and a little thinned paint over the top to smooth out the bulk of your figure's clothing and gear.

Whether you're painting the German or Hungarian Austrian infantry, the principles remain much the same. Starting with the white 'done' will also give you an easy starting point for light infantry or Landwehr.

These are the Perry Miniatures plastic Austrian infantry box - it's got heads included featuring the classic helmet, updated shako, or the Landwehr Corse-hut.

The chipper tune during the intro is Deutschmeister Regimentsmarsch; the lyrics saying they're the K & K won't be accurate until 1867, but it's a neat Austrian march!
