Wearing a hijab is a form of “passive terrorism,” according to a chapter from a US military policy paper that has sparked controversy. The claim comes from a chapter in the US Air Force Research Laboratory titled, “A Strategic Plan to Defeat Radical Islam” written by Dr. Tawfik Hamid, who identifies as a former extremist. The chapter is framed as a plan to combat terrorism but goes on to include unsubstantiated claims on how extremism is created, such as extremists are created as a result of “sexual deprivation” and high testosterone levels.
