What is Modulation?
In telecommunication to transmit low-frequency message signals to far distances is a challenging task, So we use modulation,
Modulation is a process of superimposing a low-frequency message signal on a high-frequency carrier signal to generate a new signal, This Modulated signal can be transmitted to far distances effectively.

Why Modulation is Required in Telecommunication?
1)To reduce the antenna size
2) To reduce the interference
3) To allow the multiplexing of the different signals

Types of Modulation
1) Analog Modulation (Message signal is analog signal)
2) Digital Modulation (Message signal is digital signal)

Analog Modulation can be further subdivided into:
1) Continuous-wave modulation, and 2) Pulse modulation.

These two types are further divided into:

1) Continuous-wave modulation
Amplitude Modulation (AM)
Frequency Modulation (FM)
Phase Modulation (PM)

2) Pulse Modulation
Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM)
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)
Pulse Position Modulation (PPM)
Pulse Code Modulation (PCM)

Digital Modulation is of mainly of three types:
1) Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK)
2) Frequency Shift Keying (FSK)
3) Phase Shift Keying (PSK)

QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation)
By using the QAM technique we can increase the Data transfer speed because we can transfer multiplexed signals effectively,
256 Bit QAM transfers 8 bits of Data at a time, So the QAM technique increases the data transfer speed by 8 times.

This video will be helpful in understanding
