This is Episode 7 of My 60 Memorable Games. In this game, Fischer played Black against Olafsson (Iceland) at Zurich 1959. Fischer rapidly gets into trouble and is thrown onto the defensive. Olafsson quietly strengthens his attacking prospects and appears to be well on the road to victory. However, he tries to force the issue prematurely, and as the position opens up, he loses the initiative, although he seems to be blissfully unaware of it. He fails to foresee the power of the riposte to 24.Qd2. Still blind to the danger, while searching for a forced win, he misses several opportunities to equalize. Under extreme time pressure, he is compelled to exchange queens under particularly unfavorable circumstances. The resulting endgame holds no further surprises.
