The Small Blood-vein moth, scientifically known as Scopula imitaria, was first described by Jacob Hübner in 1799.
The Small Blood-vein moth is a species of geometer moth with a wingspan of about 26-29 mm. It is typically found in a variety of habitats like waste ground, hedgerows, and coastal sand-dunes.
The adults fly at night during July and August.Their larvae feed on privet and other low-growing plants, and they overwinter as larvae.

The wings can be reddish, yellowish, or orange to light brown.
The forewings have a distinct cross-line, which is usually more pinkish on the Blood-vein (a similar species).
The hindwings also have this cross-line, but the inner crossline is often absent.
The lines and marginal line are usually clear but fine.
Fairly common in the southern half of the UK, becoming more local further north.
Also found across Europe and North Africa.
