My iPhone 4s was really annoying me recently because the screen kept going blank during phone calls where I actually had to access the screen to answer those digital voice menus. If you had your iPhone screen go black during a phone call, you already know how annoying this problem can be. This how-to guide will show you how to permanently fix this problem. I am using an OtterBox Defender case that is either made wrong or warped from the constant removal of the case. The rubber eyelet for the proximity sensor is blocking the sensor which was causing me the screen to turn off. The strange part is that this seemed to happen every time I actually needed the screen to stay lit so that I can answer questions or switch to speakerphone. Long story short if your iphone is doing the same thing, chances are that you will have to modify your iphone case so that the proximity sensor is left unobstructed.
