Mountain Flying - Kennedy Creek Resort - Light Sport Pilot Adventures 008 (4K) - N234YP TL Sting S3

We took a quick trip down to the mountains of northern Georgia to visit a place outside of our busy city life for the weekend. Kennedy Creek resort is about 1.5 hour drive north of Atlanta, and about an 1 hour and 15 min flight from Nashville, TN. Kennedy Creek is a great get-away and offers some great amenities at a very reasonable price. The bar and restaurant... suprisingly excellent! Kennedy Creek Resort offers many cabins to choose from, as well RV sites, yurts (a permanent tent with a bed and power outlets), tents, and campsites. Everything you need to make a great getaway trip is at your disposal. For us, the fact that they have a decent runway and it's quick hop from Nashville, made it a pretty easy choice for a get-away weekend.

The trip started pretty uneventful, but along the way, the haze from the Canadian fires started to get me worried. The thought crossed my mind that we might end up diverting to a nearby airport that offered runway lights and then drive up to Kennedy Creek if needed. The visibility was better as we crossed over the other side of the higher mountains and descended in to the Suches, Georgia area.

The site was beautiful, and the scenery made it instantly relaxing and peaceful. The camp sites and cabins were full, the people were so friendly and the staff was very nice, and accommodating. We will be back, but next time I will choose to make the trip after the haze resides from the Canadian fires.
