Описание к видео BIG TURK REVIEW

Every trip has that one moment where you do something ridiculous just for the story. For me, this was it.

Somewhere deep in Newfoundland, in a small grocery store tucked between windblown cliffs and kind strangers, I found myself doing something I did not plan on. I started asking locals a question. Not about directions. Not about weather. I asked them, “Hey, you’re Canadian, right? What’s your favorite chocolate?”

That was the only rule. It had to be chocolate. Not gummies. Not sour belts. Not something shaped like a moose or covered in maple glaze. Just chocolate. Real. Simple. Canadian.

First came Coffee Crisp. A surprising twist. Wafer layered with bold coffee flavor, balanced, crispy, and weirdly satisfying. I dropped it mid-review. Five second rule applied. Zero regrets.

Then came Big Turk.

Let me pause here for dramatic effect.

Big Turk was recommended by a man in the store with total confidence. He said it like it was a rite of passage. Like I was about to be inducted into some secret Canadian club. So I trusted him. I added it to my basket. I gave it a fighting chance.

And I will never recover.

The outside looked fine. Innocent even. The wrapper had this red and purple flair to it. Bold. Fun. The name Big Turk felt a bit mysterious. Could be anything. Could be heroic. Could be legendary. What it was… was none of those things.

I opened it and immediately paused. What I saw looked less like a candy bar and more like chocolate covered meat. I am not exaggerating. The inside had this dark, jelly-like core. Think gummy bear meets jelly bean, wrapped in milk chocolate that did not ask to be involved. I stared at it the way someone stares at a houseplant that just moved.

I took a bite. Out of obligation. Out of honor. Out of curiosity. And instantly regretted all of it.

The texture? Confusing. Your teeth expect softness but are met with resistance. The chocolate tries to be creamy but fails against the weight of the gelatinous mystery slab inside. It is chewy. Too chewy. Like it wants to fight you the whole way down.

The flavor? Artificial cherry maybe? Or raspberry? It is hard to tell because the texture distracts you from ever fully tasting anything. There is a fruit essence somewhere in there but it is trapped in the wrong format. The chocolate does not help. In fact, it makes it worse. Like someone dipped a jelly bean in melted chocolate and said, “That’ll do.”

Big Turk gets a zero out of ten. I do not say that lightly. I wanted to love it. I wanted to find the charm. I wanted to believe this local legend had handed me something special. But no. This one is a miss. A spectacular, confusing, chewy miss.

Still, I am glad I tried it. That is what this candy review adventure is all about. Not every discovery is a winner. Sometimes the best stories come from the worst bites.

This wraps up part three of the Canadian chocolate journey. Three bars in. One strong yes. One surprising maybe. And one... never again.

Sometimes the best parts of travel are not the places or the plans. Sometimes they are the little moments. The stranger who swears by a candy bar you have never heard of. The way a new flavor makes you pause and think, “Wait, is this a prank?” And the look on your face when you realize that was not chocolate... that was something else entirely.

The next vlog drops soon. Until then, try something unfamiliar. But maybe skip the Big Turk.

You are always welcome in this space
Christopher
