On Tuesday, August 4, 2020, President Donald John Trump and Vice-President Mike Pence participates in the swearing in ceremony of the 22nd Air Force Chief of Staff General Charles Q. Brown, Jr. with his wife, Sharon Guilford, and family members watching in the Oval Office of the White House.

Vice-President Pence administered the Oath of Office to General Brown.

President Trump interviewed General Brown for the Air Force Chief of Staff position on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 and nominated him to the U.S. Senate thereafter. General Brown testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday, May 7, 2020 before the entire U.S. Senate voted on his nomination.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2020, the U.S. Senate voted 98-0 to confirm General Brown to the position.

General Brown, a decorated pilot and experienced commander, becomes the first African-American in history to lead a branch of the U.S. military as its highest-ranking officer.
