Daniel Boone’s Last Home in Kentucky!

Daniel Boone and Kentucky are almost interchangeable. Some say that he is even the “Father of Kentucky”. However, many are shocked to learn that he spent his last 20+ years in Missouri, not Kentucky!
 
This cabin is the last home in Kentucky that Boone lived in. It was built in 1795 in Nicholas County, where he at one time owned more than 100,000 acres of land. But he lost it all due to poor tax records and continuous lawsuits and moved to Missouri in 1799.
 
Ironically, this home is only about 5 miles south of where he fought, and his son Israel was killed at the Battle of Bluelicks. You can visit here at the fireplace and wonder what Daniel’s thoughts were while he gazed into the flames.
