(Filmed on Manic Monday the 16th of May, 2022. This time we have Pt. 5 of The Wellington Job).

On this occasion, I mostly filmed the regular Matangi EMUs on Metlink commuter services. Quite out of the blue, KiwiRail's DFB 7064 and DXC 5391 also showed up on the 'Kapiti Line' with a test run to Waikanae and back. I caught them at Porirua on their way up the NIMT, then again at Pukerua Bay on their southbound run. For reference, the DFB was released from Hutt Workshops on May 13 after a long rebuilding project. As for the DXC, I believe this was her last run before returning to the South Island.

Suffice to say, I was amazed / surprised to see such a rare working. But I must stress that despite hearing rumours of 7064 potentially doing a test run, I didn't think it would actually happen until that morning in Porirua.

After the test run, we'll head up to the Melling Branch and later the Hutt Valley Line. In this section of the video we'll have a semi-in-depth look at Melling station as well as Wingate and Waterloo; the latter being a major bus and train interchange (served by even the Wairarapa Line trains as well as the electrics).
