In October 2020, the City of Plano celebrated at a groundbreaking ceremony for Plano Fire-Rescue’s new Fire Training Center. The center will be located at the intersection of McDermott Road and Robinson Road.

The Fire Training Center is a two-acre complex. It will include a Training Administration building with office space, training/classrooms, women’s and men’s locker rooms, fitness area, and mock three-bay apparatus room. The site includes a two-story single-family home training prop, six-story burn tower, two-story multi-family apartment prop, and a technical rescue training facility. Funding for the $14.8 million (total) project comes from the voter-approved 2017 bond. The center is expected to be complete by early 2022.
