In this episode, I'll show you how to make the Manhattan cocktail - one my all time favorites. The Manhattan cocktail is the PERFECT drink for the holiday season. As the weather turns colder, this is a delicious and comforting classic - and I do mean - this is as classic as it gets! There are many ways to make this drink but I'm going to show you how I like it. I like my Manhattan with a GOOD bourbon whisky, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters - and something that really gives this particular drink a delicious note of flavor is Luxardo Maraschino Cherries. If you've never tried them before - do yourself a favor!

There are several different variations of the Manhattan but whiskey or bourbon is traditional. Also, the amount of sweet vermouth is also a variable. A perfect Manhattan uses half sweet vermouth and half dry vermouth and can be garnished with a cherry or a lemon twist.

Want to follow along? You'll need:

BAR SETUP -
*Jigger
*Ice filled shaker
*Martini glass filled with ice and water
*Cocktail strainer

INGREDIENTS -
*Bourbon or Whiskey (I absolutely prefer Maker's Mark for my Manhattan)
*Sweet Vermouth (such as Dolan)
*Angostura Bitters

GARNISH -
*Luxardo Maraschino Cherries

A few 'fun facts' about the Manhattan: It is one of the oldest cocktails still made the same way it was made over 150 years ago. And - it's called the Manhattan because it was first made at the famous Manhattan Club in NYC.
