Izabella Tabarovsky, eminent scholar of Russian history and antisemitism, joins us to discuss the Soviet roots of modern-day antizionist antisemitism. The Soviet underpinning of current US antisemitism needs to be understood to help reverse the dramatic increase in antisemitic sentiment in recent years. Hate crimes against Jews in the US increased by 37% in 2022 according to data released by the FBI. Recent statistics are even worse. Just since the Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians on October 7, 2023, the ADL Center on Extremism recorded a 388% rise in US antisemitic incidents (harassment, vandalism and assault) versus the same period last year. The former Soviet anti-Zionist propaganda has become foundational to the antisemitic mindset in the US today.
